Signapse Secures $2 Million in Seed Round

Signapse, a Guildford, UK-based company specializing in generative AI sign language translation software, secured £2 million in a seed funding round.   

The funding comprises £1.5 million from private investors and an additional £500,000 from the UK Government.  

Investors  

The round was led by Soulmates Ventures and Deeptech Seed Fund, with participation from other notable investors such as the Royal Association for Deaf People, Empirical Ventures, CEAS Investments, and FSE Group.  

Soulmates Ventures is an accelerator based in Prague, Czech Republic. Founded in 2019, the firm prefers to invest in companies operating in the air, water, food, healthcare, mobility, and education sectors.  

Founded in 2018, Deep Tech Seed Fund is an investment firm based in Dublin, Ireland. The firm invests in deep tech start-ups across Europe.

Signapse is a sign language translation software company that uses generative AI to achieve photo-realism and accuracy to provide greater accessibility for the Deaf community. In the past two years, Signapse has leveraged Generative AI to create 5,000 BSL train announcements daily in the UK and provided over 4,000 manual BSL translations for clients in website and video markets. Notably, the company has facilitated Deaf accessibility for transport companies such as LNER Train Stations in the UK and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International (CVG) Airport in Ohio, USA.
