Wand.app, a New York-based AI-powered creative tool, raised $4.2 million in a seed funding round led by O’Shaughnessy Ventures.
Long Journey, Notation Capital, Betaworks, Charge Ventures, Twelve Below, and BDMI, as well as angel investors Amy Wu, Eden Chen, Jared Hecht, and Steve Martocci, also participated in the round.
The company is utilizing the funds for research and development and to grow its team.
Wand.app combines visual tools and personalization. It operates natively on tablets, allowing artists to guide the AI through illustrations, which helps supplement traditional text prompts with visual forms.
“We want to harness generative technology in a way that minimizes the gap between our imaginations and reality,” said Grant Davis, CEO of Wand.app. “What we don’t want is a future in which our methods for guiding AI are so limited and hands-off that this technology replaces our capacity for imagination and artistry.”
The Wand team continues to add users from its growing waitlist and keeps those interested in the platform up to date via its Discord channel. The company plans to release some additional features in Q4 2023 and into 2024.
