Plata Raises $405M Series C at $5B Valuation

Plata, based in Mexico City, Mexico, is a technology-led digital banking platform that provides financial services across Latin America. The company has raised $405 million in Series C funding, bringing its valuation to $5 billion. This latest round follows a period of rapid growth for the firm, which has now raised over $2 billion in total debt and equity funding.

The round was led by Bicycle Capital with new investors Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), BTG Pactual, Valor Capital Group, and a large global long-only active fund manager. Existing investors Kora, Hedosophia, Spice Expeditions, and Audeo Ventures also participated. Plata's investor base now spans sovereign wealth funds, global asset managers, venture firms, and U.S. university endowments including the University of Illinois Foundation, the University of Wisconsin Foundation, and Washington University.

Plata Use of Funds

Plata plans to use the capital to support its next phase of growth, following the launch of full banking operations as Banco Plata in Mexico. The funds will help expand its product range and strengthen its business model as the company continues to scale its digital banking services and proprietary AI risk technology.
