Piramidal Raises $6 Million in Seed Round

Piramidal, a San Francisco, CA-based startup building foundational AI model for brainwaves, has raised $6 million in seed funding. 

Investors 

The funding round was led by Y Combinator, with contributions from Adverb Ventures, Lionheart Ventures, and angel investors, including founders of Intercom Inc., PlanGrid Inc., and Guilded Inc. 

Y Combinator is a technology startup accelerator and venture capital firm launched in March 2005. The firm offers a wide range of resources and programs to support founders throughout their business journey. YC, based in Mountain View, California, has invested in over 4,500 startups since its founding. 

Piramidal Use of Funds 

The company plans to use the funds to continue developing its innovative product and bring it to market.

Founded by Dimitris Sakellariou and Kris Pahuja, Piramidal offers a foundational model for analyzing brain scan data. It aimed at improving the accuracy and speed of diagnosing brain injuries using electroencephalography (EEG) data. Their AI model employs cutting-edge machine learning techniques to analyze EEG results more effectively, potentially reducing diagnostic errors and patient waiting times. While initially focusing on epilepsy, the company aims to expand its technology to cover a wider range of neurological conditions, including remote brainwave monitoring and drug discovery.
