Masthead Data, a Toronto, Canada-based data observability platform, has announced that it raised $1.3 million in pre-seed funding.
The round was led by focal, with participation from SMOK Ventures, DEPO Ventures, Monochrome, and Alchemist Accelerator. Angel investors, including professionals from Snowflake, ex-Uber employees, ex-Googlers, and privacy and security experts, also participated in the round.
Masthead's approach offers two significant advantages over existing solutions. Firstly, it ensures client data remains untouched, private, and secure since it doesn't require access to the actual data. Secondly, it reduces deployment time and effort, allowing clients to start using the platform within minutes.
Currently available for Google Cloud, Masthead plans to expand its platform to other cloud providers in the coming months. The platform integrates with Looker, enabling clients to visualize how data pipeline malfunctions affect downstream users and business operations.
